Organic cotton is a natural, genetically modified organism-free (GMO-free) fibre. Its production does not involve the use of harmful chemicals such as pesticides, insecticides, herbicides or fertilisers. Organic cotton uses far less water than conventional cotton as the crop is primarily rain fed rather than irrigated and organic cotton encourages the rotation of crops to maintain healthier and more fertile soil, by building soil fertility organic farmers help lock C02 into the soil, helping to mitigate climate change. All of our organic cotton yarn is fully combed and ring spun resulting in the highest quality garments which are durable and last longer. The fabrics are dyed with GOTS approved chemicals, in zero-discharge dyehouses, where all the water is recycled in a closed-loop system, certified to Oeko Tex 100 Class 1 standard and conforming to REACH. This independent testing and certification system ensures the absence of harmful chemical substances which are harmful to both health and the environment, including a precautionary principle which prohibits certain potentially harmful substances which are currently not banned.

Through a combination of innovative product design, low impact organic agriculture, efficiency in manufacturing and replacing standard grid electricity with renewable wind power our manufactures save around 7 kilograms of CO2 emissions compared to a standard t-shirt, with a hooded sweatshirt saving 28 kilograms, as such our products carry the registered Climate Neutral mark. Additionally any cut offs or rejected materials are recycled by our manufactures reducing the possibility of them ending up in landfill and instead repurposing them for a second life.

Water based inks

WATER-BASED INKS

We print our shirts using water-based inks, these do not contain any of the harmful chemicals such as PVC or phthalates which are found in oil based inks. Additionally our water based inks do not contain ozone-depleting chemicals such as CFC’s, HCFC’s aromatic hydrocarbons or any volatile solvents, alongside lead or any other heavy metals. Alongside this water-based inks do not require the use of chemical solvents to clean the screens after use, they can simply be cleaned using water. And these water-based eco-friendly inks equal there oil based rivals for durability and quality. What’s not to love.

VEGAN

PETA CERTIFICATION

Our products are also PETA certified. Our apparel is made from 100% vegan and organic materials. This means that we do not conduct or commission any animal test on ingredients, formulations or finished products and we pledge never to do so, this means you can be confident no harm came to anyone during our products creation.

SOCIAL RESPONSABILITY

Alongside protecting the environment with organic and eco-friendly products it is equally important to us to protect the people we share this wonderful planet with. We believe everyone should have the right to safe and healthy working environments, receive a living wage, and be free from discrimination and harassment. Workers should have the right to join or not join a labour union, and choose to work freely, in fair and reasonable working hours and children should have a right to go to school. As such we work with textile suppliers who are Fair Wear Foundation certified, this means they meet the global standards of ethical manufacturing providing their workers with a fair wage and safe working conditions and improving conditions for hundreds of thousands of worker involved in clothes manufacturing.

CHARITABLE DONATIONS

We donate a % of our profits to charities who's work we believe is vital. Currently your purchases have lead to donations to the RNLI, The Wave Project, Mind and  Surfers Against Sewage. See the shirt descriptions to see where a percentage of your purchase is being donated and to find out more about these charities and the amazing work they do visit our blog page or their sites.

Eco friendly packaging

ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING AND MAILERS

We use Eco-friendly compostable plant based mail bags and boxes to provide you with an unboxing experience that isn’t tarnished by excessive amounts of harmful non-recyclable single use plastic.

Our mailers will break down in domestic compost conditions within 180 days and will leave no harmful residue behind. Our mailers come with 2 sealant tabs we at Dumpstuff will only ever seal your package with one of these tabs meaning you can reuse this mail bag. This is awesome because it means the mailbag can have a second life, doubling the utility of the packaging and preventing another item of single use plastic being used. So do not discard your mailer, reuse and recycle it before composting it.

Our mail boxes are bio-degradable, compostable and plastic free and  are made from FSC certified wood pulp. After their delivery use they can be used to store your products or repurposed to store other items (personally we think they are great for storing surf and skate hardware and wax, keeping it nice and organised all in one place). Alternatively you can dispose of them in compost heap to break down or recycle them.
